FAQ

What can I do with the code and media I download?

All content produced for this project is licensed under the GNU General Public License.  See the link for a summary.  Some included libraries (such as the one for fixed-point math, sqlite3, the Mersenne Twister implementation and ENet) have different licenses and may be used accordingly.

Our intent of apply the GPL applies to media files (3d models, textures and sounds) is to allow you to use them in your project as long as you make the files (including any changes or derived versions) available in a way that is easy for others to use.  This can be as simple as making a .ZIP file with all of the content in it available for download.  We don’t believe that using our media forces you to make your application’s source code publicly available.

Naturally, use of Evidyon’s GPL-licensed source code does come with the condition that you release the source code, whether our media is incorporated or not.

How could I give back, other than by donating?

Here are some ideas:

  • Spread the word about Evidyon
  • Help us get connected with the software development industry (Karl is looking for his first full-time programming job)
  • Post a note to us on the forums at EviTales.com

How long has this project been under development?

The sequence of modified projects that led to us creating Evidyon goes back to 2001.  However, the version of Evidyon available for download was written between 2007 and 2009.  The vast majority of the code was rewritten during the summer of 2009, and modifications were made for open-source release in 2010.
